Remembering Kevin Wagner

In case you haven’t heard, Kevin Wagner, who was a Building Service Engineer for University Housing Services (UHS), was briefly hospitalized and unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, October 28th, 2023, at the age of 39.

For the last four years, Kevin was a proud member of the Sacramento State community, serving as the Teamsters Local 2010 Union Steward as well as a member of the STAR Committee within the Division of Student Affairs representing UHS. He loved his work, helping people - students and staff alike, fixing things, mountain biking, working out, cooking, and most of all, making people laugh.

Kevin was larger than life and touched so many people with his big heart and even bigger personality. On a personal level, he was an Eagle Scout who volunteered his professional and construction skills for two weeks each year at Camp Marin Sierra, near Emigrant's Gap, CA. He called the Camp his "happy place" where he could hike the Yuba Trail, explore in Tahoe National Forest, swim in the lake, and stargaze at the Milky Way. Kevin and his brother were also two-time winners of the UHS Staff Chili Cook-Off event. The event is now being renamed the “Kevin Wagner Annual Housing Cook-Off”.

Kevin was one of a kind, to meet him once, was to know him. He was impossible to forget with his big grin and outrageous sense of humor. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
