Graduation Advising

The Graduation & Degree Advising Office reviews the courses you have completed and determines the official status of your progress toward graduation.

If you applied to graduate, and have questions, you may schedule an appointment with a Degree Advisor.

Eligibility to Graduate

Total Units

A minimum of 120 units is required. No more than 70 units taken at a community college or other two-year college may be applied to this total, excluding military credit and credit by examination, which are not included in this limit.

General Education program requirements and approved General Education courses may be found in the Sacramento State Catalog

Upper Division Units

A minimum of 40 upper division units is required to graduate. Sacramento State upper division courses are numbered 100-199.

If you have not been enrolled within the last 5 years, you can submit a request for a Degree Review.

Bachelor Degree Checklist

Apply to Graduate

The online graduation application is available to all students who are eligible to apply for graduation.

To apply to graduate online, look for the Graduation Application link located in your Student Center.

Graduation Priority Filing Timelines

Fall: February 1 | Spring/Summer: October 1


Diplomas Information

You will receive your diploma 4 to 6 months after graduation to the address on file. Replacement diplomas are processed through an out of state agency. If you requested a Replacement Diploma, they are ordered on the last business day of each month. It takes approximately 10 to 14 days for the diploma to be mailed to your address.

Verifying Degree Completion

Outside Agencies, Employers, background screening firms, and other outside agencies may verify Sacramento State degrees awarded by contacting the National Student Clearinghouse at (703) 742-4200.
