Lost Childhoods

Foster Youth Museum

Special Preview: June 5 – 20, 2025

Lost Childhoods tells the story of loss and powerlessness in the foster care system – and the human capacity for resilience and connection. The exhibit includes art, artifacts and photographic portraits, and is organized by themes that characterize experiences in foster care and beyond: loss, powerlessness, developmental disruption, institutionalization—and connection and achievement.

Open Tuesday – Friday, Noon-4PM and by appointment.

Lost Childhoods is presented by the Foster Youth Education Fund and the University Galleries. The exhibit will be on view during the fall semester: September 4-December 6, 2025.

Gioia Fonda: One Thing After Another

September 4 – December 6, 2025

Exhibition Reception: Thursday, September 4, 5-8PM

The University Galleries is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Sacramento-based artist Gioia Fonda in the Library Gallery this fall. Recognized as a multidisciplinary artist with bodies of work spanning painting, social practice, sculpture, drawing, and public art, Fonda reimagines the world around us through prisms of color and pattern. Showcasing a new body of the work, the exhibition will feature paintings exploring stages of insomnia, and an interactive painting installation.

Fonda is a studio resident at Verge Center for the Arts and a dedicated member of the Sacramento art community. A full-time professor since 2008, Fonda is a tenured professor of art at Sacramento City College.
