About MS in Counseling
About the Counselor Education program
Welcome to the Counselor Education Program page!
Our program is designed to meet the needs and interests of a diverse society. We strive to incorporate inclusivity practices, diversity training and continuing education opportunities, social justice advocacy efforts, while strongly opposing discrimination. Our MS Counseling program is comprised of four CACREP accredited specializations: Career, Rehabilitation, School, and Marriage Couple and Family. Emphasis is placed on personal and professional development throughout course curriculum and experiential learning. We require our Counselors-in-Training to participate in their own personal counseling, with outside professionals to assist in their counselor identity development. Once completed, graduates are equipped with a strong foundation in counseling theory, skills, and resources across the four counseling disciplines.
Our program also provides opportunities for socializing and connection building through our student clubs and organizations such as the Student Counseling Society, Counselor Education Student Ambassadors, Chi Sigma Sigma, and the Student Advisory Council. Our students can participate in fun activities geared towards team building, social events, legislative advocacy, and community service to name a few. They can also gather information from their fellow peers in partnership with faculty to enact positive change.
