Paying for Tuition

Students and families have payment options for tuition costs and fees. We are committed to providing excellent customer service to best serve our current and future students.

Payment Methods

Tuition and fees can be paid in a variety of ways.

Bursar's Office, Lassen Hall, Room 1001.

  • Credit Cards/Debit Cards are NOT accepted for payment of Registration Fees in-person
  • Cash, check, money orders, OneCard and credit card checks are accepted for payment of registration fees. Please make these payable to "CSUS".
  • VISA, MasterCard, Discover, cash, check, and OneCard are accepted for payments OTHER than Registration Fees.

Students have the ability to use Transact SmartPay to make convenient online payments. Follow the step-by-step instructions below:

  1. Login to your My Sac State account
  2. Click on the "Student Center" link
  3. Select the "Account Inquiry" link in the Finances Section
  4. Select the "Make an Online Payment" button at the bottom of the page
  5. On the black menu bar along the let-hand side, click on “Make a Payment”
  6. You will see a box with all of your charges, which will have the total balance at the bottom.
  7. If you would like to pay all fees listed, check the “Check all” box. If you will not be paying some of the fees listed, only check the box of the fees you will be paying
  8. Select the correct term for any charges you will be paying
  9. If you are on the payment plan, you may enter the amount you would like to pay in the Registration Fee Plan payment field
  10. When you are ready to check out, click “Continue” at the bottom of the screen
  11. Select your method of payment and click “Continue”
  12. Check the “I Agree” box after reading the terms and conditions of the payment method and click “Continue”
  13. Check the “I Agree” box after reading Transact Campus, Inc. and click “Continue”
  14. Verify that all information is correct and click “Pay” button

Transact SmartPay Service Fees

  • Electronic Check (eCheck) using bank account number and routing number. No charge.
  • Credit Card 2.65% of total amount (Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover).

Payments need to arrive at the Bursar's Office by the due date, NOT by the postmarked date. Personal checks, cashier's checks and money orders should be made payable to "Sacramento State" and mailed to:

Please place sealed envelope with Name, Student ID number and payment via personal check, cashier's check or money order made payable to "Sacramento State" in the dropbox located in front of Lassen 1001.

Do not leave cash.

Students can create a Pin to allow parents to access their Transact Online Account information. This feature eliminates the need to share their SacLink username and password information.

Students – How to Create a Parent Pin

  1. Log on to MySacState
  2. Click on the "Student Center" link
  3. Select the "Account Inquiry" link in the Finances Section
  4. Select the "Make an Online Payment" button
  5. On the black menu bar along the left-hand side, click on “My Account”
  6. Under the Payers section, click the “Send a payer invitation” link
  7. Enter the requested payer information and click “Send Invitation"

Parents – How to Use Your Parent PIN

FIRST TIME LOGING IN:

  1. You will receive an email that contains your Parent PIN login information and a temporary password
  2. Click on the link in the email
  3. Enter the login information and password provided in the email you received
  4. You will be prompted to change password to one that you will remember
  5. Click "Submit"
  6. If you wish to make a payment at this time, please continue with step #3 below

TO MAKE PAYMENTS:

  1. Go to: https://commerce.cashnet.com/csusacpay
  2. Enter your Parent PIN information (username and password)
  3. On the black menu bar along the let-hand side, click on “Make a Payment”
  4. You will see a box with all of your charges, which will have the total balance at the bottom.
  5. If you would like to pay all fees listed, check the “Check all” box. If you will not be paying some of the fees listed, only check the box of the fees you will be paying
  6. Select the correct term for any charges you will be paying

Installment Plan Dates & Amounts Spring 2024

The Installment Payment Plan costs $33 and is available to all students (including non-resident students, WUE students, and those in the Grad Professional Business Program). Once a student agrees to the terms and conditions, tuition fees and campus fees are separated into three installments.

This payment plan is February through April, and is available for you to sign up through February 416, 2024.

Installment Payment Plan Instructions

Follow the 4-step process below to enroll in the Installment Payment Plan:

  1. Log on to the Student Center through your MySacState at www.my.csus.edu.
  2. Click “Switch to Full Site” on the left-hand side of the screen

  3. Click the empty drop down menu in the Finances section, located between My Account and Financial Aid, and select “Enroll in Payment Plan

  4. Click “go” (>> arrows in the circle) then follow the onscreen instructions

Additional Installment Information

  • You must remain current on your installment payments in order to avoid late fees and holds
  • Late installment payments will incur a fee of $15 each time you are late
  • Holds will prevent registration in a subsequent semester and the release of your diploma
  • Defaulting on a payment plan may result in being ineligible for payment plans in subsequent semesters
  • You may not sign yourself up for a payment plan if you have a fee waiver or third-party sponsor
    • You can still have your balance put on a partial payment plan by contacting the Bursar’s Office at bursar@csus.edu
