Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a need-based employment program that gives eligible students the opportunity to earn money to help pay for education expenses while gaining valuable work experience and building professional skills.
Join us for FWS Student Orientation Session
Attend one of our virtual orientation sessions to learn more about the Federal Work-Study program, how it works, and what to expect as you being your job search.
Attendance is optional, and you only need to attend one session.

What You Need to Know About Federal Work-Study:
Before getting started, here are a few important things to know:
- Review the FWS Student Employee Hiring Instructions for step-by-step guidance
- FWS job openings will be posted on Handshake beginning July 1, 2026
- Accepting your FWS award does not mean you have been hired for a position
- FWS employment begins August 31, 2026
- You will be paid through a paycheck for hours worked
- FWS earnings are not applied to your student account
