About Counseling & Diagnostic Services

The Center for Counseling and Diagnostic Services has been in operation since 1968. The center provides the broader Sacramento region affordable counseling and educational testing.

Services are offered during the academic year: September through December and February through May. If we cannot accommodate specific client needs, referrals to other services can be provided. The center is accessible to individuals with disabilities and there are several bus lines that service the campus.

Find a brief overview of services provided below and select the links under “Explore our Services” for more information. To make an appointment, please select the “Request for Counseling Services Form” and/or the “Request for Educational Services Form.” To take a brief virtual tour of our Center, please see the video here.

Counseling & Psychotherapy

Counseling and Psychotherapy services are available to meet the needs of our community. We offer groups; individual, couples, family, and child & adolescent counseling; career counseling; and rehabilitation counseling. All services are offered by trained graduate students in the MS Counseling program and supervised by licensed and certified faculty. For spring 2022, please find more information here: Counseling Services.

Educational Testing

Educational testing is designed to assess K-12 students for learning disabilities (reading, math, writing, etc.). An assessment can also screen for characteristics of ADHD and mild Autism, but cannot provide a medical diagnosis. Overall, an assessment can provide insight into a student’s learning profile in order to inform their family and educators as they seek to meet their needs.

Language & Literacy
Diagnostic literacy assessment of pre-kindergarten children, school-age children, and adults. Assessments focus on all areas of literacy development: reading, spelling, and writing.

Services are by appointment only please call (916) 278-6252 for more information.
