About Carnegie Reclassification
About Carnegie
Sacramento State first received the prestigious Carnegie Community Engagement Classification in 2010.
As an institution committed to community engagement, we received reclassification in 2026.
The Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement reflects our commitment to our
community engagement efforts on campus and with our community partners.
The classification has been the leading framework for institutional assessment and recognition of community engagement in U.S. higher education for the past 20 years. This achievement signals our commitment to our community engagement efforts.
We congratulate our staff, faculty, students, and community partners on being recognized with this classification. We are honored to receive this recognition as a mark of excellence for Sacramento State’s contributions in the region.
