Request an Agreement or Disclose Intellectual Property

Request a MTA, DTA, or NDA

Only the Associate Vice President of the Office of Research, Innovation & Economic Development has the delegated authority to sign MTAs, DTAs, DTAs, and other IP-related agreements on behalf of Sacramento State.

MTA-DTA-NDA Request Form

  • Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) - used to receive, provide, share, and protect proprietary biological materials, physical materials, chemicals, and other tangible research materials.
  • Data Transfer Agreement (DTA) - also known as a Data Use Agreement (DUA) or Data Sharing Agreement (DSA) is used to receive, provide, share, and protect confidential and proprietary data.
  • Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) - also known as a Confidential Disclosure Agreement (CDA) or Confidentiality Agreement (CA) is used to receive, provide, share, and protect confidential and proprietary information.

Disclose a New Invention, Software, or Creative Work

A new invention may be a new biological material, chemical, composition of matter, device, machine, method, process, plant variety, tree variety, or other innovation. An invention can be protected by a design patent, utility patent, plant patent, or plant breeder's right.

New software may be new application software, driver software, middleware, programming software, or system software. Software can be protected by a utility patent and/or copyright.

A new creative work can be a book, film, musical composition, painting, play, sculpture, song, or other artistic or literary work. A creative work is protected by copyright.

To disclose a new invention or new software that may have commercial potential can benefit California and the world, please:

  1. Click on the Inventor Portal to disclose the new invention or new software online directly into OITT's Inteum Minuet IP management system; or
  2. Send an email with a completed Invention Disclosure Form to research@csus.edu.

To disclose a new creative work that could have commercial potential and benefit California and the world, please:

  1. Click on the Inventor Portal to disclose the new creative work online directly into OITT's Inteum Minuet IP management system; or
  2. Send an email with a completed Copyright Disclosure Form to research@csus.edu.
