Request an Agreement or Disclose Intellectual Property

Request a MTA, DTA, or NDA

To request for OITT to draft, negotiate, review, and/or sign a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA), Data Transfer Agreement (DTA), or Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) on behalf of Sacramento State for you, please send an MTA-DTA-NDA Request Form to OITT at oitt@csus.edu.

A Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) is used to receive, provide, share, and protect proprietary biological materials, physical materials, chemicals, and other tangible research materials.

A Data Transfer Agreement (DTA), also known as a Data Use Agreement (DUA) or Data Sharing Agreement (DSA), is used to receive, provide, share, and protect confidential and proprietary data.

A Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), also known as a Confidential Disclosure Agreement (CDA) or Confidentiality Agreement (CA), is used to receive, provide, share, and protect confidential and proprietary information.

Only the Associate Vice President of the Office of Research, Innovation & Economic Development has the delegated authority to sign MTAs, DTAs, DTAs, and other IP-related agreements on behalf of Sacramento State.

Disclose a New Invention, Software, or Creative Work

To disclose to OITT a new invention or new software that is useful and can benefit California and the world, please send an Invention Disclosure Form to OITT at oitt@csus.edu.

To disclose to OITT a new creative work that could have commercial potential and benefit California and the world, please send a Copyright Disclosure Form to OITT at oitt@csus.edu.

A new invention may be a new biological material, chemical, composition of matter, device, machine, method, process, plant variety, tree variety, or other IP. An invention can be protected by a design patent, utility patent, plant patent, or plant breeder's right.

New software may be new application software, driver software, middleware, programming software, or system software. A Software Invention can be protected by a utility patent and/or copyright.

A new creative work can be a book, film, musical composition, painting, play, sculpture, song, or other artistic or literary work. A creative work is protected by copyright and is in some cases also by a design patent.

OITT and Inteum Company, LLC are developing a portal to enable you to disclose future new Inventions, new software, and new creative works online.
