EDTE 330 Technology Performance Assessment


Step 1: Please complete the following six tasks in the lab and make sure you save all files in your storage device.  If you cannot complete the task, please skip the task and go on to the next task.

Task 1: File Management

a.         Create a folder on your storage device and name it as your last name.

b.        Create 4 files below (Task 2,3,4, and 5) and save all the files in this folder.

c.         Save each file with the proper extension (Word= .doc, PowerPoint= .ppt, Excel=.xls – Example: task3.ppt)

Task 2: Word Document (You will not be able to create all hyperlinks until Task 3, the PowerPoint and Task 4, the Excel file are completed.)  Click here for an example.  Click here for the tutorials: Basic (PDF file), Intermediate (PDF file) and  Advance (web links)  

Scenario: You are preparing a student teaching lesson (any subject, any topic) that contains the integration of technologies (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Internet).

Please create a Word Document with the following component:

a.         A centered title of your topic using the "WordArt."

b.        A table (2 columns and 5 rows)

c.         Row 1, Column 1: Type “Resources” - Boldface

d.        Row 1, Column 2: Type “Descriptions” - Boldface

e.         Row 2, Column 1: Copy and paste a good web site, make sure it has the hyperlink.

f.          Row 2, Column 2: Describe the website

g.         Row 3, Column 1: Insert an image downloaded from the above web site.

h.         Row 3, Column 2:Describe the image

i.           Row 4, Column 1: Hyperlink to your PowerPoint presentation.

j.          Row 4, Column 2: Describe the PowerPoint presentation.

k.        Row 5, Column 1: Hyperlink to your Excel file.

l.           Row 5, Column 2: Describe the Excel file.

m.       Save the word file in your folder on the desktop.

Task 3: PowerPoint Slides
Description: Create a PowerPoint presentation with 3 slides.  Each slide must have one of the following backgrounds: gradient, picture, or texture. Click here for an example.  Click here for the tutorials: Basic (PDF file), Intermediate (PDF file) and  Advance (web links)   

Slide Content:

a.        Slide1: Title of your presentation and your name - Title and name must be animated.

b.        Slide 2: A slide with the chart (select any line chart).

c.        Slide 3: A slide with 2 images - each image must be animated.

d.    Add background image

e.        Add a transition to each slide.

f.        Save file in your folder on the desktop. ­ Create your hyperlink to it in the Word document.

Task 4: Excel

Description: Create an Excel worksheet with the following set of data. Create a chart of your data.  The data will represent the students’ reaction to your activity.  Click here for an example.  Click here for the tutorials: Basic (PDF file), Intermediate (PDF file) and  Advance (web links)   

a.        Column A – Title: Cell A1: Class

b.        Cell A2-A5 - List 4 classes (Class A, Class B etc)

c.        Column B – Title in Cell B1: Students Who Love the Assignment

d.        Cell B2-B5: Insert hypothetical data (Make it up!)

e.        Column C – Title in Cell C1: Students Who Dislike the Assignment

f.          Cell C2-C5: Insert hypothetical data (Make it up!)

g.        Column D – Title in Cell D1: Students Who are Ambivalent

h.        Cell D2-D5: Insert hypothetical data (Make it up!)

i.          Label A7 – Sum

j.          Calculate the sum for each category. B7, C7, and D7.  All of them has must be formulas.

k.        Label A8 – Average

l.          Calculate the average for each category. B8, C8, and D8 All of them must be formulas.

m.    Use the "borders" to draw lines around the cells.

n.      Create a chart for the above data. Be creative. J

o.   Shrink it to fit on one page using the "Page Setup."

p.        Save file in your folder on the desktop – Create your hyperlink to it in the Word document.

Task 5: Scanning  Click here for an example  and Click here for the tutorial (PDF file)

a.        Please scan the item your instructor gives you.  In the lab, you need to use the scanning program called "Adobe Photoshop Element."

b.        Save the scanned image as a JPEG file and save the file in your folder.

Task 6: Compressing the files Click here for the tutorial

Description: Compress the folder to a single .zip file (yourlastname.zip)

 

Step 2: After you have completed the tasks “as best as you can,” e-mail your instructor. 

a.        If you CAN do the Task 6, please attach the compressed file. 

b.        If you CANNOT do the Task 6, please attach the Task 2 file.  And tell the instructor that you cannot complete the Task 6.  The instructor will come and look at the rest of files in your folder on your computer.

c.  Check with instructor to make sure he has received the e-mail before you leave the class.

 

Step 3: Check the "Grade Reports" on this web site tomorrow and see which lab session(s) you need to attend.
