Academic Advising

Attention students: See my resources page for information on advising.

Faculty Advisor, Academic Advising Center, Fall 2006-present

I am serving as a faculty advisor in the Academic Advising Center, located in Lassen Hall (Room 1012) . Faculty are responsible for five hours per week of advisings, plus an additional four hours during peak advising times (the first two weeks of the semester and the last three weeks of the semester).

The center accepts drop-ins during regular business hours. Advisors include professional staff, faculty advisors, and peer advisors. The advisors in the Academic Advising Center can help undergraduates with a variety of topics. If you are an undergraduate at California State University, Sacramento, and looking for more information, please see my information on advising.

My advising hours for the current semester are available on my home page.

Major Advisor, Department of Economics, Fall 2004-Spring 2006

I served as an advisor for Economics majors during the 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 academic years. There are four major advisors in the Department of Economics. Each major advisor serves a two-year term, with two new advisors beginning each fall. In addition, I have served as a faculty advisor at the Major Fair 2002-2006.

During the 2004-2005 academic year, a group of major advisors (myself, Rossitza Wooster, and Terri Sexton) successfully applied for funding to support major advising during the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 academic years. This funding came from the Faculty Senate Advising Intiative.

During the 2005-2006 academic year, I served as the Chair of the Undergraduate Advising Committee, coordinator advisors hours, revising the Student Handbook for Economics Majors and Advising Worksheet for majors, and developing a system for faculty to serve as advisors on a rotating system. In revising the Student Handbook, I collected additional information for undergraduates seeking more information on graduate programs and careers in economics.
