Student Laptop Checkout

As part of our student technology equity efforts, IRT and campus partners support on-campus Computer Labs and Virtual Lab access, as well as short and long-term laptop checkout for academic use on a first-come, first-served basis. Laptops are pre-loaded with current technology and course software, and automatically receive security patching.

Short-term Laptop Checkout

Laptops/devices are available for short-term (4-hour maximum) on-campus use only for currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students who are in good standing (no fines or suspensions). You'll need to present a valid Sac State One Card.

Short-term Checkout Locations

If you require a longer duration or off-campus use, we offer a long-term checkout option, below.

Pick-up & Returns

Visit the University Library or the University Union Relaxation Station to check out a 4-hour laptop loaner.

NOTE:
You'll need to return it where you checked it out - please do not return it to the IRT Service Desk in AIRC 2005.

Long-term Laptop Checkout

IRT provides laptop loaners for temporary long-term on and off-campus use:

  • New and continuing students can request a laptop at the beginning of each semester.

  • Laptops require authentication with your Sac State account username and password, and are to be used only for academic coursework.

  • At the end of the semester, the laptop must be returned, or a renewal can be requested.

How to Request/Renew a Laptop

For new requests, use your Sac State email account to ask a Faculty member to submit a request on your behalf to servicedesk@csus.edu. The request must come from their own Sac State email account and include all of the following information in order to be processed:

  • Item(s) requested, student's first and last name, and student's email address.

Need to renew your laptop checkout for longer? Contact us at servicedesk@csus.edu.

Pick-up & Returns

When a new laptop request is approved, you'll receive a confirmation email to your Sac State account with instructions to come pick up your device. At the close of each semester - unless you have requested a renewal - please return the laptop as soon as possible.

Where? Laptop pick-up and returns are managed all in one place at IRT Service Desk during open hours.

Lost, Damaged, or Stolen Equipment

Contact the IRT Service Desk team at servicedesk@csus.edu to complete the paperwork on your behalf.
