Non-Konica Minolta Printers

IRT only officially supports Konica Minolta printers through our managed print services programs. Printers purchased outside of this program are not officially supported.

Existing legacy desktop (USB) and networked non-Konica Minolta printers are only supported at IRT's discretion on a best-effort basis. Any hardware problems will be referred to an external printer vendor.

Some departments use specialized non-Konica printers for specific business or instructional needs. IRT supports certain specialized equipment purchased with IRT's involvement, such as check printers, banner printers, and large-format or graphic arts printers.

Is this service for students?
No. The services on this page support departmental printers and university-managed printing devices used by faculty, staff, departments, and affiliated programs. Students looking for printing locations, balances, costs, or printing support should visit the Student Printing page.

Are non-Konica printers supported?
IRT's primary departmental printing solution is Konica Minolta. Existing non-Konica printers may receive limited support on a best-effort basis depending on the issue, device age, and available support resources.

Can I purchase my own printer for university use?
Departments should consult with IRT before purchasing a printer. In most cases, Konica Minolta devices are the preferred and supported printing solution for departmental and shared office environments.

Can non-Konica printers be connected to the campus network?
Generally, no. Non-Konica printers should not be connected directly to the campus network. Most non-Konica printers are supported only when connected directly to a single computer using USB or other approved local connections.

Can I use a wireless (Wi-Fi) printer?
No. Wireless printing is not supported for departmental printers. Printers should be connected using approved wired connections and configured according to university standards.

Why does my department have a non-Konica printer?
Some departments have legacy or specialty printers that support specific business, academic, research, or operational needs. These devices are typically existing approved exceptions and may continue to receive limited support on a best-effort basis.

What if my department needs a new printer?
Use the Request a New Konica Minolta Printer service to discuss supported printing options and determine whether a Konica Minolta device or another solution is appropriate for your business needs.
