International Graduate Applicants

International graduate applications are accepted for both Fall and Spring semester intakes, however, not all programs are open for each term. Please refer to the Office of Graduate Studies for the program of interest and respective application filing deadlines. *The dates below are a general guideline for the application filing period, but please consult the program for confirmed application deadlines and requirements.

  • Fall Intake (late August start date) Application Filing Period: October 1 – February 1 thru March 1*
  • Spring Intake (late January start date) Application Filing Period: August 1 – September 15*

Applicants must submit the international application online at Cal State Apply. We strongly recommend that applicants review the Cal State Apply International Student Guide before applying. A non-refundable application fee of $70 USD will need to be paid before submitting the application online using a credit/debit card or PayPal account. Checks or money order are not accepted.

Please submit your application documents to us as clearly scanned PDFs via email directly to Please include your full name (as entered in the application) and Sacramento State ID when reaching out via email. We recommend that you submit unofficial copies of your test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, GRE/GMAT) with your other supporting documents so that our team may forward your application to the graduate program as soon as possible. The document deadline for application processing is one month after the graduate program's filing period deadline. As an example, if the program application filing period is September 15, the document deadline for processing is October 15. If the program application filing period deadline is February 1, the document deadline for processing is March 1.
