Sac State, CSU recognize four leaders' contributions with honorary degrees, President's Medal

Sacramento State and California State University(CSU) have recognized four leaders in public service, law, health care, and academia this year for their contributions to the campus community, CSU, and beyond.
Since 1963, the CSU has awarded honorary degrees to individuals whose contributions have benefitted humanity, CSU campuses, local communities, and more.
The President’s Medal for Distinguished Service is awarded to community members who provided outstanding service to Sacramento State, higher education, and the common good.
Honorary Degrees- Anh Phoong, founder and CEO of Phoong Law, received an Honorary Doctor of Laws
- Garry Maisel, CEO emeritus of Western Health, received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters
- Elizabeth G. Hill, retired legislative analyst for the state of California, received an Honorary Doctor of Laws
- Professor Emeritus Ayad Al-Qazzaz (Sociology) was this year’s recipient of the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service
Honorees were recognized during receptions on April 24 and May 1.
