Our Mission

The mission of the SWANA Center is to provide a place of belonging and inclusion within a safe and supportive environment that promotes student success, diversity, achievement, and a sense of home.

Our Vision

The SWANA Center envisions a bright future for scholars of the SWANA region that typifies educational success, career prosperity, and communal enrichment and longevity.

Key Objectives

  • Provide support to the overall SWANA community
  • Share a breadth of services and opportunities to foster SWANA student engagement
  • Hold a space of belonging that creates a home base for SWANA scholars
  • Advance the retention, persistence, and graduation rate attainment goals of SWANA students
  • Connect with key campus stakeholders and partnering groups to unveil programming and opportunities for collaboration
  • Provide an arm of connection to the community and its rich diversity in the region that reflects the SWANA countries, its initiatives, and signature goals

Nowruz Fundraising Luncheon and SWANA Center Soft Launch

Please join us as we celebrate the Persian New Year and raise funds for Sacramento State students conducting research on Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA) and its diasporas! Enjoy food, music, and a cultural presentation on Nowruz, and learn about Sac State’s new SWANA Center.
