Freshmen and Transfer student Eligibility and Benefits

First Time Freshmen

Eligibility:

  • Must be a California Resident
  • Have at least one of the following criteria:
    • First-Generation
    • Pell eligible
    • Graduated from an underrepresented HS

CA Promise Benefits:

  • Keeps you accountable to remain “on track” to graduate in 4 years - helping you save money
  • Start your career goal as planned
  • Priority registration within your class cohort (example: priority within first years)
  • Eligible to receive a Summer Provost Grant for summer session courses Summer Provost grants are subject to funding each summer
  • Access to meet with Student Success Ambassadors for General education advising
  • Invited to attended workshops on academic success and navigating Sacramento State

Commitment to remain active in CA Promise:

  • Complete 30 advisor-approved units per academic year (includes summer)

Examples:

  • Option 1: Fall Semester 15 units + Spring Semester 15 units = 30 units
  • Option 2: Fall Semester 15 units + Winter Session 3 units + Spring Semester 12 units = 30 units
  • Option 3: Fall Semester 15 units + Spring Semester 12 units + Summer Session 3 units = 30 units
  • Option 4: Fall Semester 12 units + Winter Session 3 units + Spring Semester 12 units + Summer Session 3 units= 30 units

  • Maintain a GPA of a 2.0 or above each semester
  • One appointment per semester with a general education or major advisor to track degree progress
  • Ensure registration holds are removed prior to your assigned registration date
  • Pay tuition/fees by each term deadline|Fall 2022 Deadlines
  • Apply for graduation before priority deadline for graduation term

New Transfers

Eligibility:

  • Must be a California Resident
  • Must have a verified Associates Degree for Transfer (AA-T or AS-T) and pursuing a similar degree at Sacramento State
