The Sacramento State Sport Clubs Program consists of 18 highly competitive clubs that compete against other universities in leagues, conferences, and tournaments at the local, regional, and national level.
The Baseball Club has been a part of the Sacramento State campus since 2013. The objectives of this club are to provide each student an opportunity of playing baseball, to educate sportsmanship, and to put emphasis on teamwork. The club currently competes in Division II, South Pacific-North, in the National Club Baseball Association. As the Baseball Club enters their fourth season they hope to earn first in their division, recruit as many players as possible, and establish their club within the campus and local community. The Sacramento State Bass Fishing Club was formed with all levels of angling experience in mind. The club is open to anyone who would like to learn more about the sport of bass fishing, take their skills to the next level and compete in the FLW Collegiate Bass Fishing Tour. At club meetings, the club hosts seminars on various fishing techniques and fishes as a group whenever possible.
In 2010, the club had its biggest accomplishment to date, winning the Western Championship, which came with cash prize and a boat! In Spring 2014, the club had 2 teams qualify for the Western Championship. The club was inactive from 2014-2019 and will be returning as a Sport Club for the Fall 2019 season with the hopes to grow to include more teams and qualify for the Western Championship.
Founded in 2019, the Sacramento State Esports Club aims to invite Gamers to compete in various collegiate tournaments on behalf of the University. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for students to develop leadership, communication, and cooperation skills in a competitive environment. The Esports Club currently provides teams for the following games: Valorant, League of Legends, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Halo, Rocket League, and Overwatch. The Men's Rugby Club has been a part of the Sacramento State campus since 1964. Our team competes in The Pacific Western Conference. We have players of all skill levels and sizes. Rugby truly is a sport for everyone. Our program is proud of the commitment, attitude, and leadership demonstrated by our athletes. Contact us anytime to find out more about joining the team. Sacramento State Men’s Soccer Club is one of the 20 well established competitive sport clubs here on campus. Though we are still the underdogs in our league, we will be competing with everything we have in order to make a name for ourselves in the West Coast Soccer Association. With the help of our great coaching staff and players, the two teams will play against schools all across the state of California as well as teams from Nevada, and Arizona. As proud Hornets, we represent Sac State with great pride and strong mindset to bring home the big W for the upcoming Fall 2017 Season. Stingers Up! The Men's Volleyball Club has been a part of the Sacramento State campus since 1980. The club exists to promote the sport of volleyball on campus to all students. The club currently houses a division one and division two team, both compete at the collegiate level against universities from all over California. The Men's Volleyball club has finished their season in 19th place out of 200 universities. (Competition & Practice Schedules with be added soon)
The Sacramento State Rock Climbing Club was formed when The Well first opened back in 2010. This club is for climbers of all skill levels, beginner to advanced, and to those desiring to learn how to climb. The club provides a welcoming community to encourage climbers to climb. This includes opportunities for indoor and outdoor climbing over the course of the year. Goals for this club prior and during competition season is to build a group of strong, well-rounded climbers with a passion for the sport and a fire to compete.
Since 1984 the Sacramento State Men's Rowing team has competed against universities from all over the country. As part of the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association, the team has won multiple conference championships in the Varsity 8. They also have had championship boats in several other events during the team’s history. The members of this team throughout history pride themselves on hard work, dedication, and commitment to a common goal. (Competition & Practice Schedules with be added soon)
In 2021, the club transitioned to become the Rowing Club, now offering both men’s and women’s rowing.
Ski & Snowboard Team
The Ski & Snowboard Team was formed approximately 10 years ago. They are committed to providing opportunity for students to learn, improve, and master skills in winter sports for collegiate competition. The program is dedicated to creating an environment that promotes an active lifestyle and advocates long-lasting friendships, while developing skills as competitive athletes. The Ski & Snowboard team is ranked as one of the top five teams in the nation and strives to achieve an even high rank this coming season. The team has doubled in size and as their winter season takes off, they will focus on clean riding, style, creativity, and uniqueness. (Competition & Practice Schedules with be added soon)
The Sacramento State Softball Club is an up and coming sport club here at Sacramento State. The club is excited to achieve, empower and create a safe and positive experience for women who want to continue playing softball competitively while showing off their hornet pride. In only two years of officially becoming a sport club, the softball club has accomplished great things, including qualifying for regionals this past season for the first time in club history and taking second place in the Pacific-Central Conference for the National Collegiate Softball Association (NCSA). The National Collegiate Softball Association has stated the Sac State Softball Club had the best defensive team in our league for the 2018-2019 season. The club looks to grow on these achievements throughout the next season.
The Sacramento State Tennis Club is a part of the United States Tennis Association-Tennis on Campus program. The competitive club was founded in 2008 and offers both competitive and social opportunities to members. The Tennis Club is open to all players, of all skill levels. Members who choose to compete at the collegiate level can join the clubs traveling roster. They compete in various tournaments, against universities across California. Each semester the Tennis Club hosts affordable clinics for club members and various club tournaments.
The Sacramento State Wakeboard club was founded in 2005 and is currently ranked 1st in the nation out of 73 collegiate wakeboard teams.
The club provides opportunities for students to learn and master the sport of wakeboarding. The Wakeboard club is ranked 4th in the country in the Collegiate Cable Tour Standings and 9th in the country in the College Wakeboard Standings. (Competition & Practice Schedules with be added soon)
We compete in Division 2 in the West Coast Rugby Conference. The club is extremely focused on creating a positive atmosphere and helping students achieve a healthy balance between school, sport and life. The club is run by the students with guidance from Sports Clubs and the coaching staff. This provides an excellent opportunity for students to gain real-life experiences that can be utilized after graduation. We want to help young women become confident and tenacious members of society. The Sacramento State Women’s Soccer Club strives to be a competitive team with integrity that provides the optimal balance between academic and athletic excellence while serving as a symbol of dignity and leadership for our University, each other, and the greater community.

The Sacramento State Wrestling Club has been a part of the campus since 2008. The club provides students the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level against other universities and club teams.
