Apply to the Honors Program
2025-2026 Applicants
The GE Honors Program is full for the 2025-2026 school year. At this time, we are no longer accepting new applications. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at honors@csus.edu.
2026-2027 Applicants
Beginning October of 2025, high school seniors and transfer students who will be attending Sacramento State starting in Fall 2026 will be eligible to apply for the GE Honors Program's 2026-2027 cohort. Please note that students must also apply to Sacramento State through Cal State Apply. Due to high demand, it is recommended that students apply early in the application cycle.
Please note: If incoming students are interested in living in the Honors Community in Riverview Hall, they must submit a separate application through University Housing. Availability in the Honors Community is limited and is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Acceptance to the program does not guarantee students a spot in Housing's Honors Community.

What Makes a Strong Honors Candidate?
Students often ask how they might stand out as a strong candidate for the program. Our program is not just for students who have taken multiple AP or Honors courses and/or have a high GPA. We look for students who are curious, creative, persevering, willing to learn, and eager to contribute to their communities. We want to know what makes our applicants unique!
A few qualities that help applicants stand out:
- Desire to improve and grow
- Passionate about something important to them (activism, sport, volunteering, crafting, painting, music, etc.)
- Interest in being active in the Honors and Sacramento State community
- Ability to recognize mistakes and think about ways to better address them in the future
