Highlights From the Collection

Wayne Thiebaud: In Memoriam

The Sacramento State community honors artist Wayne Thiebaud who passed away on December 25, 2021 at the age of 101. A local legend, national treasure and internationally renown painter, Thiebaud and his work inspired generations. Thiebaud is an alumnus of Sacramento State, earning both his BA and MA in Art, and taught at the University of Calfiornia, Davis for thirty years.

The University Galleries and Sacramento State are the proud caretakers of an extraordinary collection of Thiebaud's prints gifted to the University in 2009. The prints, ranging from early etchings to lithographs depicting the artist's fascination with desserts and cakes, survey the breadth of the artist's intensive printmaking practice.
