Into the Lion’s Mouth
Phil Hitchcock
“It takes vision, will power, and persistence to make a dream a reality, and that is exactly what made it possible for Phil Hitchcock to found and direct the University’s Library Gallery for seventeen years. Not one to ever take ‘no’ for an answer, Phil was dedicated to providing the space and expertise to mount the highest quality exhibitions and programming for the Sacramento State and larger Sacramento communities. His reach and impact went beyond the region, as he commissioned, curated, and hosted shows of national and international reputation.
“This exhibit, Phil Hitchcock: Into the Lion’s Mouth with its sampling of the works curated and collected by Phil, exemplifies his vision and the dream-made-real. The College of Arts & Letters and the Department of Art is pleased to take this opportunity to thank Phil for his many years of service to the arts community.”
