This year’s Envisioning California Conference will have everyone saying, “Cheers!” The theme is “California’s Liquid Gold: Brewing and Wine-Making in the Golden State.”

The 26th annual conference, presented by Sacramento State’s Center for California Studies, will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria, 828 I St. Tickets are $25 general and $10 for students/fellows, and include a catered lunch and a closing reception with a beer- and wine-tasting.

Registration is still open for the event. To order tickets: http://bit.ly/1EQM43f.

Attendees will hear from winemakers, brewers, academic experts, government regulators, and others directly connected to this critical California industry.

“California is an internationally recognized leader in the production of wine and beer,” says Steve Boilard, the center’s executive director. “This conference will explore recent trends in craft brewing and artisanal winemaking in California, examine current policy implications, and consider possible future developments in these key industries.”

Amelia Ceja, president of Ceja Vineyards in Napa, and Natalie Cilurzo, co-owner and president of Russian River Brewing Co. in Santa Rosa, are the keynote lunch speakers. Amador County chef Beth Sogaard will cater the event.

The Center for California Studies at Sacramento State is a research and public policy institute founded in 1982. Its mission is to strengthen democratic governance in California in a variety of ways, including running fellowship programs in all three branches of state government, furthering research and public discussions on state policy issues, and promoting civic education among high school students.

Envisioning California, held each year since 1989, brings together Californians to share insights into the state’s history, culture, philosophy, and diversity.
