Justin Reginato, a professor of construction management at Sacramento State since 2009, has been named the 2016 Outstanding Educator by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) Education and Research Foundation.

AGC is a national construction-trade organization that represents more than 26,000 companies, including many in the Sacramento region that hire Sac State’s construction management graduates.

“Your work as an educator, a mentor of students, and as a colleague in the construction industry sets you apart as an outstanding leader and role model for this award,” foundation director Melinda D. Patrician wrote in her letter of congratulations to Reginato. “The recommendations of your peers at (Sacramento State) and in the industry, as well as your students, were impressive testimony to the impact your work has had.”

Mikael Anderson, chair of Sacramento State’s Construction Management Department, added, “This could not have gone to a harder-working, more deserving faculty member.”

Reginato will receive a cash award, as well as two $2,500 scholarships for Sac State construction management students, at the AGC’s annual convention in March in San Antonio.

“As is the case with most individual awards, this is a team award,” Reginato says. “And it’s another building block in Sacramento State’s brand as one of the leading construction management programs in the United States.

“The award highlights the virtuous cycle of quality instruction, industry support, and hardworking students who make our graduates some of the most sought-after in the industry,” he says. – Dixie Reid
