Sacramento State once again will team up with other local colleges and universities to host a special program focused on college preparation. The 22nd annual College: Making It Happen! event runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the University Union. The event is free and open to the public.

The program is intended primarily for sixth- through ninth-grade students and their families, although all students are welcome. Because of its popularity, reservations are required. To register online, visit www.csus.edu/cmih. Fliers in English, Hmong, and Spanish can be downloaded from the website.

The program will include practical workshops and interactive sessions on college readiness, financial planning, and exploring career options. Representatives from Sacramento-area colleges and universities will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about their institutions.

College: Making It Happen! is sponsored by Sacramento State, the Los Rios Community College District, UC Davis’ Undergraduate Admissions and Early Academic Outreach Program, the Sacramento CAL-SOAP Consortium, Breakthrough Sacramento, the University of the Pacific, ScholarShare, and other educational and community-based organizations.
