Design-Build Team for Placer County Forensic Science Laboratory

Design-Build Team for Placer County Forensic Science Laboratory (Crime Lab) Coming Soon!

The design-build team for the Placer County Crime Lab has been selected, and a formal announcement will be forthcoming. Placer County, Sierra College, and Sacramento State Placer are very pleased with the winning team and looking forward to the innovative, first-of-a-kind, design. The Crime Lab will begin construction in early 2027, with an opening date of fall 2028.

The Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science, unique to Sacramento State Placer, will be taught inside the new Crime Lab.

$2.5 million approved by the Placer County

The Placer County Board of Supervisors approved $2.5 million to begin designs for a 30,000sqft crime lab to be built at Sacramento State Placer. Placer County Forensic Science Laboratory is envisioned as a joint County – University crime lab that houses a state-of-the-art, working laboratory for forensic science professionals and instructional space for teaching and scholarship in the field of forensic science.
