1/17/2024 UPDATE ON PLACER CENTER

In 2020 Sacramento State began a master plan effort to develop a 301-acre property approximately 25 miles north of the main campus in unincorporated Placer County. The off-campus center is located within Placer Ranch Specific Plan area and is anticipated to accommodate 12,000 FTES through strategic public and private partnerships in expanding access to higher education as the first 4-year public institution in the County. The Master Plan is intended to guide development and operation of a campus that is sustainable and resilient; that provides a successful student experience; and that establishes a new model of education, innovation, and community engagement. While Sacramento State - Placer Center would start off as an off-campus center tied to Sacramento State, the potential exists for it to turn into an independent California State University campus in the long term. The master plan and EIR documents are available below for further information. Please note that the PDF of the Final EIR is optical character recognized so that it is searchable. For WCAG-compliant word files, please email Tania Nunez at tania.nunez@csus.edu to request distribution.

08/09/18 - Moraga Way Transition and Parking Lot B/Sinclair Road Closure

Prior to the start of the fall semester, Moraga Way will be transitioned into a bike and pedestrian only pathway. The transition, outlined in the campus master plan, will create an additional central circulation pathway that will facilitate safe passage for the increasing amount of non-vehicular (pedestrians and bicyclists) traffic.

In preparation for this conversion, Parking Lot B will be closed as additional disabled access (ADA compliant) parking spaces are created. These spaces will replace many of the disabled parking spaces that are currently located along Moraga Way and will increase the previous amount of ADA spaces with the addition of Parking Structure 5 (PS5) ADA parking spaces.

UTAPS will operate a new cart shuttle service (The Herky Streetcar) along Moraga Way between PS5 and Amador Hall. The cart shuttle service will be ADA compliant and will stop at multiple locations. A map of the Herky Streetcar can be found here. The Herky Streetcar will operate Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will run constantly in approximately 15-18 minute loops.

05/16/18 - Parking Structure 5 Opening Tomorrow, May 17

We are pleased to announce Parking Structure 5 (PS 5) has successfully passed the Office of the State Fire Marshal inspection and will open tomorrow, May 17, 2018. Your new parking structure will contain over 50 EV charging stations as well as new technology that will make it easier to find available parking. Faculty and Staff parking (marked as “E” parking) in PS 5 is located on the first and second floors.

In order to ensure that the Faculty/Staff parking spaces are maintained at the appropriate pre-construction levels, UTAPS will be reallocating the following spaces:

  • Temporary Lot 2A (gravel lot adjacent to Shasta Hall): During the summer, the temporary Lot 2A will be re-designated with both Student and Faculty/Staff parking spaces. During the construction of PS 5, these spaces were created and designated as Faculty/Staff parking only to make up for the loss of Lot 1 Faculty/Staff parking. With the completion of PS 5, Faculty/Staff parking spaces will return to pre-construction levels.
  • Parking Structure 1: During construction of PS 5, approximately 400 spaces were re-designated from Student spaces to Faculty/Staff spaces. In turn, Student spaces were relocated to the Ramona Parking Lot located off Ramona Avenue (off-campus). With PS 5 opening, student spaces in Parking Structure 1 will be restored. Faculty/Staff spaces on the south side of Parking Structure 1 will remain.
  • Lot 7 (behind the ASI Children’s Center): The new parking spaces added to Lot 7 (the old El Dorado building site) between the ASI Children’s Center and the Art Sculpture Lab continue to be available for Faculty/Staff parking. Faculty/Staff parking spaces in Lot 6 will also remain the same.
We thank you for your cooperation and patience during the construction of Parking Structure 5. We understand that the campus construction has been challenging for everyone and we are grateful for your patience. Please feel free to contact the UTAPS office if you have additional questions at (916) 278-PARK (7275).

05/03/18 - Parking Structure 5 Update

The opening of Parking Structure 5 (PS5) has been further delayed due to issues related to water pressure flow. University officials and the contractor are diligently working on ways to rectify the issue. When we receive the final approval from the Office of the State Fire Marshal, and determine an opening date for the structure, we will promptly inform the campus community.

In the meantime, the surface parking lot accessible from Bay Laurel and State University Drive next to PS5 will open for use tomorrow, May 4. These parking spaces are designated for Faculty/Staff (employee), but will include several 30 minute spaces. A corresponding number of Faculty/Staff spaces in Parking Structure 1 (PS1) will be converted to student parking use.

In addition, starting on Monday, May 7 Bay Laurel Drive will no longer serve as a thoroughfare connecting State University Drive and College Town Road. The original gate arm locations will be reestablished near the Athletics and Facilities Management buildings.

01/21/18 - Spring 2018 Parking Information

Welcome back to Sac State’s spring 2018 Semester! Our construction teams have made a lot of progress on campus projects but as many of you already know, Sac State is still very much a construction zone. All of the Fall 2018 parking changes are still in place to ensure that Faculty/Staff parking space numbers are maintained.

We ask that you continue to avoid Lots 1 and 4 as they are closed due to construction. These lots will be transformed into Parking Structure 5 and the new Science II Building. Parking Structure 5 is progressing steadily and we expect the structure to open for parking sometime in March 2018. We’ll send out communication when we have a date certain.

FACULTY/STAFF PARKING CONCENTRATION AREAS: The highest concentration of Faculty/Staff spaces is still in Parking Structure 1 (PS1). Please remember that both sides (entrances) of the first three levels of PS1 are now designated for Faculty/Staff members. You may use both of the entrances to PS1 to access these parking spaces. Please remember that all designated spaces (ADA, EV Charging and Carpool) continue to be restricted in their use.

The new parking spaces added to Parking Lot 7 (the old El Dorado building site) between the Child Development Center and the Art Sculpture Lab continue to be available for Faculty/Staff parking. Faculty/Staff parking spaces in Lots 4 and 6 will also remain the same.

Construction of Riverview Hall was completed during the Fall semester and we were able to regain several Faculty/Staff parking spaces in Lot 2. In addition, we designated all of Lot 2A (gravel lot by Shasta) as Faculty/Staff adding many new spaces.

As you may already know, we created 1,000 new parking spaces at the Ramona Parking Lot located off Ramona Ave for overflow and student parking. For the spring semester, we are selling a Ramona Parking Permit at a 25% discount from the normal student parking permit. As a bonus, after the new Parking Structure 5 opens, the Ramona Parking Permit can be used on campus for student parking spaces. During spring 2018, we will continue to offer 200 additional student parking spaces at the McAuliffe Baseball fields parking lot and the newly created temporary Lot 15 (below the digital sign adjacent to Capitol Public Radio). Both lots are located on State University Drive off Folsom Blvd. Please consider sharing this information with your classes if time permits.

01/19/18 - Single lane access on State University Drive
