Taskforce for the Center on Race, Immigration and Social Justice

The taskforce for the Center on Race, Immigration and Social Justice (CRISJ) addresses social and educational inequities facing the university and larger communit. It seeks to transform the educational culture to an exciting and empowering one that reflects the strengths and needs of our local and diversified communities.

CRISJ produces critical scholarship, community engagement, research mentorship, and academic programing for the university and broader community, engaging faculty, students, and community in a concerted and collaborative manner in improving the campus/community climate for equity and creating a stimulating intellectual environment and sense of belonging for both students and faculty from historically underrepresented backgrounds.

CRISJ attempts to bring research, mentorship, and civic engagement together by building a network of faculty, university centers and institutes and community leaders who work as collaborative partners to create, develop, implement and deploy activities addressing issues of equity and social justice in the university and larger community. CRISJ seeks to connect the university and Sacramento communities that have been underserved and marginalized. Significantly, CRISJ is instrumental in creating a diverse and inclusive culture of equity, access, and success for the university and Sacramento communities.
