The Pre-Health Professions website at Sacramento State provides students and alumni who are interested in entering a health professional field with information and resources to learn about a health profession and the process.

Monday 11/6/23

  • Sac State/UC Davis Causeway Classic Blood Drive (Day 1)
    Time: 10 AM- 4 PM

  • Student Health, Counseling, & Wellness Services-Emotional Safety Listening Session
    SHCWS will be hosting a listening session to hear from students about your concerns and ideas of how they can help make Sac State a safer campus for everyone

  • Flu Clinic
    Students can recieve FREE flu immunization shots on campus
    Time: 11 AM- 3 PM

  • Drop-In Cooking Skills with CalFresh
    Drop-In to visit with CalFresh Healthy Living and CalFresh Outreach teams and learn about the application process, food safety, cross contaminations, knife skills and cook temperatures. Particpants will recieve a FREE cuting board.

  • This is Public Health: ASPPH Public Health Schools & Programs Virtual Fair
    The Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) will be hosting a FREE virtual fair to allow those interested in entering a graduate program in public health to meet with representatives from various programs and schools around the nation.

    Come learn about Sacramento Street Medicine, a volunteer run organization that provides medical care to the unhoused in Sacramento and how you can get involved.

    Maria Carolina (Carol) Marchetto, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Antropology Department at UCSD and Adjunt Assistant Professor at Salk Institute will be giving a lecture on "Using Stem Cells to Study Bipolar Disorder."

  • HHS & NSM Fall Festival Kick Off
    Join the Colleges of Health and Human Services and Natural Science and Mathematics ASI Directors as they host a festival show casing the two colleges and students organizations, which have several prehealth clubs. The event is put on by ASI.

    Join Pre-Dent as they learn about dental implant insertions and to particpate in a hands on activity.

The Pre-Health Professional page provides information and resources for pre-health students at California State University, Sacramento. Students who are interested in entering a health professional program are strongly encouraged to meet with an adviser who does pre-health advising.

Pre-Health Advisors Listserv

Join the Sacramento State pre-health advisors listserv. This is an excellent venue to ask other advisors questions regarding various health professions that students might ask you. As a member of the listserv, you will receive updated information from the various health professional organizations like AAMC, ADEA, etc., information about professional development or informational webinars, and information on programs for students to gain experience in the field. If you are interested in joining, email prehealth@csus.edu to be added.

Pre-Health Advising Professional Organization

Join the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NAAHP). NAAHP serves as a resource for the professional development of health professions advisors. When you join NAAHP, you automatically become a member of the regional association, Western Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (WAAHP). Annual membership is $195. Visit their website for additional information and how to join.
