The Hornet Family rolls out the welcome mat for its members past, present and future during Homecoming Week 2019, running through Oct. 19.

Events culminate with Saturday night’s football game when the 15th-ranked Hornets face sixth-ranked Montana at Hornet Stadium. Kickoff is at 6:05 p.m. But there’s plenty going on outside of that.

Foremost is the Homecoming Festival from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, in Parking Lot 8. Alumni, students, faculty and staff have the opportunity to enjoy live music, family-friendly fun and games including a bounce house, the University’s marching band and cheer and dance squads, and the annual Golf Cart Parade, which starts at 3 p.m. at the residence halls and concludes at 3:45 p.m. in Lot 8 near Hornet Stadium. There, participants can participate in pre-game tailgating.

Fall In Love with Sac State, the event formerly called Future Hornet Day, is being held during Homecoming weekend. It has been revamped to a series of Saturday presentations and tours hosted by Admissions and Outreach. The Homecoming Weekend event is meant to better reflect the growing needs of prospective students. Workshop and tour sessions begin at 10 a.m. and noon in the Welcome Center, Lassen 1100.

Fall in Love with Sac State continues Saturday, Oct. 26. Other community-geared events:

    • The Homecoming Hornet Family Weekend Reception, 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Zocalo in University Village. Capacity has been reached for this event, which gives families a chance to connect with one another, said Haley Myers Dillon, director of the Parents and Families Program. “They may not have the exact same experiences with their students, but many parents find fun, laughter, and comfort in sharing stories and solutions to common problems,” she said.
    • Parents and families tailgate, 3-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, Lot 8.

Additionally, Sac State Alumni Association members who show their association membership card at the Hornet Bookstore receive 20 percent off in-store purchases of logo apparel, hats, and gift merchandise at the Hornet Bookstore all week through Oct. 19.
