The event had been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday in the University Ballroom. A VIP reception for Huerta also has been postponed.

Huerta was scheduled to speak about the importance of participation in the upcoming Census.

Huerta’s foundation said that it is, until further notice, postponing her events, which tend to draw audiences with many older people, who have been identified as being at higher risk for complications from COVID-19.

Sac State’s Serna Center hopes to reschedule Huerta’s appearance on campus for “later this year,” officials said.
