Peer-to-Peer Support
Peer-to-Peer Support Members (formerly known as Peer Counselors) are part of the Student Health, Counseling, and Wellness Services team, and serve as an additional resource to promote safety and well-being on campus. Peer-to-Peer Support Members are current students who trained in crisis management and de-escalation.
The yearlong paid on-campus internship program includes:
- Training in basic counseling skills by licensed professionals.
- Education in a variety of diversity, inclusion, mental health, and general wellness topics.
- The opportunity to build leadership, interpersonal communication, and group facilitation skills.
The 2024-25 application for Peer-to-Peer Support Members is now open through April 21, 2024. Handshake Job #8860319. For more information, contact Emily Tupper at emily.tupper@csus.edu or 916-278-3799.
Group Counseling/Trainings
Group Counseling is a confidential service provided to all eligible students. Therapy groups are often limited to a maximum of 12 people.
Once therapy has begun, the group is closed. Closed groups with a small number of participants allow for trust building and group cohesion, thus allowing groups to be therapeutic.
