Hornet Launch for Spring 2026 Admits

Here at CSU Sacramento, we are vested in your academic success! For first-year, first-time students admitted in Spring 2026, you were pre-enrolled in all your Spring classes. We are excited to share that for Fall 2026 you will again be pre-enrolled in a full, meaningful schedule. Courses will be a balance of General Education and Major requirements as recommended by the major’s roadmaps and to meet CSU General Education compliance requirements.

We will be enrolling all first-time first-year students admitted Spring 2026, except:

  • First-time first-year students who are anticipated to have 60 or more units complete at the end of Spring 2026. You are considered "launched" and have enough units to work directly with your college’s Student Success Center to determine the appropriate courses to enroll yourself in. Not sure if that is you? No worries! An email will be sent to your Sac State email account in weeks 6 or 7 confirming if you are on track to complete 60 or more units.
  • Students who withdrew or dropped their courses to 0 units prior to February 23, will not receive a Fall 2026 schedule. If you plan to return to Sac State and take classes in Fall 2026, please notify the Hornet Launch Team at hornetlaunch@csus.edu by April 10 and we will enroll you.

To make sure we enroll you in the best schedule possible:

  1. Check for registration holds in your Student Center. Log into your Student Center and look at your Holds box. If you have any items in the Holds box, take care of it immediately. Hornet Launch Schedulers cannot override these holds and cannot guarantee a class schedule if any hold is on your account after April 24.
  2. Check that your major on record is correct. This is the major we will be building your schedule around. If the major on record is not the major you intend to complete, please contact the College Student Success Center of the major you want to change to. The last day Hornet Launch can adjust your schedule for major changes is April 17.

Frequently Asked Questions

You will be pre-enrolled in your Fall 2026 courses April 27 through May 1, at which time you will be able to view your schedule in your Enrollment Cart.

Every student is assigned an Open Enrollment Appointment for every registration period. The Open Enrollment Appointment is a specific day and time assigned to each student based on the number of units completed and any programs a student is active in that allows a bump in registration time (like Finish in Four).

Your Open Enrollment Appointment will appear in your Student Center the week before registration opens. A new box called "Enrollment" will appear under your "To Do" list, and you will click on "Details" to view the exact time you have access to your enrollment.

Fall 2026 registration kicks off April 27. You will see your Enrollment Appointment the week of April 20.

Yes! You will have access to adjust your schedule at the time your Fall 2026 Enrollment Appointment opens.

Make sure you have discussed with an advisor the courses you plan to swap. Certain courses are prioritized for freshmen and it may be difficult to enroll yourself in certain courses after your first year. Hornet Launch will not be able to re-enroll you in any classes if you drop them.

For information on how to swap classes, watch “How to Use Sac State Scheduler” and “How to Add/Drop/Swap

If you need to change your major, please contact the department of the major you want to change to. Click below to look up the department and college of the major you want to change to. Meet with the department of your new intended major and they will submit the Change of Major form on your behalf.

Do not use the "Freshman Change of Major Petition" on the Hornet Launch webpage. This is no longer being processed for students admitted the Fall 2025 - Spring 2026 academic year.

If a Change of Major form has been submitted on your behalf, please email hornetlaunch@csus.edu to alert us to your major change. We will adjust Fall course plans up until April 10. Hornet Launch cannot guarantee schedule adjustments to your new major after April 10. If we are not able to make the accommodation because it is past the deadline, be prepared to adjust your Fall schedule during your assigned Registration Appointment. Make sure to seek advising for assistance with course selection.

Check your Student Center once a week for Registration Holds and work to clear them as quickly as possible. These are set to block class enrollment during the next registration cycle until you take care of what the university is requiring you to do.

Common registration holds are:

  • Completing the Financial Responsibility Agreement (All students must complete this every semester)
  • Submitting final, official high school and/or college transcripts.
  • Paying outstanding fees on your account (Orientation fee, tuition fees, housing fees, etc.)
  • Advising holds (You need to meet with the advising center that is requiring semester advising. All freshmen are required to attend advising)

Hornet Launch is not authorized to override registration holds. If you have a registration hold on your account when we try to enroll you, we will not be able to do so. If a registration hold is on your account after April 24, Hornet Launch cannot guarantee our ability to enroll you in your Spring 2026 Hornet Launch schedule.

If you remove your registration holds after April 24, you will be responsible for enrolling yourself in Fall 2026 classes starting your assigned Enrollment Appointment time. After May 1, you may email Hornet Launch at hornetlaunch@csus.edu and request the list of courses that Hornet Launch planned for you, and seek advising in the Academic Advising Center or your major's Student Success Center.

Yes! While any items on your To-Do List in your Student Center may not be a problem now, if left unattended, could delay important things later. They are important reminders for submitting documents to process Financial Aid, or to order official transcripts to prove you graduated high school or earned college credit. If you have an item in your To-Do List that you know you have completed in full, you may contact the department who placed the to-do item to request its removal.

If you are planning to not attend courses at Sac State in Fall 2026 please email hornetlaunch@csus.edu. It is important that we do not enroll you in classes you do not plan to attend. Course enrollment prompts the university to charge tuition and fees to your account, which you will be responsible for. If you are considering taking a semester off, it is highly recommended that you meet with an academic advisor to plan your leave of absence and your return to Sac State.

Taking a class at a community college while taking classes at Sac State?

Please email the Hornet Launch Program at hornetlaunch@csus.edu to alert the team of the course you are taking and where you are taking it (for example, CHEM 300 at American River College). Please send the email from your Sac State Outlook account and include your Student ID number in the email. The sooner we know what you are taking, the sooner we can make sure your Fall schedule will be to your greatest benefit.

The key to passing is attending class, completing as many assignments as possible, communicating with your instructors, and doing as best as you can on tests and exams. Tutoring is available for all kinds of classes and subjects. Connect with academic success resources like PARC (Peer and Academic Resource Center), the Reading & Writing Center, and the Math Lab, just to name a few.

If you feel your grade is in jeopardy of failing, communicate with your instructor as early as possible to discuss a plan.

Fall enrollment happens before you finish your Spring courses and Hornet Launch enrolls you in full confidence that you will pass. If there is a Spring course you do not pass, just connect with an academic advisor as soon as possible to discuss the best options for you. You may need to take a summer class or adjust your Fall 2026 schedule.

Academic Notice, or Probation, is a category of Academic Standing that serves as a warning that you should seek additional assistance to help you succeed toward your degree. You can learn more about categories of Academic Standing.

If you find yourself on academic notice/probation after Spring 2026 grades post at the beginning of June, meet with an academic advisor to discuss the best pathway to get back on track. This may include options of repeating courses in Summer and/or Fall session.

For information about reserved seats and how to identify them, watch this short video: Understanding Reserve Seats.

Please make sure you have checked the sections of the course you want to see if there are seats left unreserved. Departments typically do not reserve full sections for Hornet Launch.

Any unused seats reserved for Hornet Launch Fall 2026 schedules will be released on July 28.

If you are trying to enroll in a course with reserved seats:

  • Check if there are non-reserved seats open in the class (see video, Understanding Reserve Seats, to learn how to check).
  • If non-reserved seats have been filled, try:
    • Looking for another section that has non-reserved seats open.
    • Signing up for the waitlist. Being on the waitlist helps inform the department that more students want this class, and the department will determine if another section can be created. If reserved seats are not used in a class, students on waitlists are auto enrolled into the unused reserved seats once the reservation is removed.
    • Check other course options that fulfill requirements you have not satisfied yet by reviewing your Academic Requirements Report and/or speaking with an advisor.
    • Hornet Launch Fall 2026 reserved seats will be released July 28.
