Submit an Incident

How can I troubleshoot software issues myself?
Before submitting a request, search the IRT Knowledge Base for troubleshooting articles, known issues, setup guides, and step-by-step instructions.

What types of software issues can I report?
Examples include application errors, software crashes, licensing or activation issues, software performance problems, configuration issues, missing features, and problems that occur after a software update.

Do you support personal devices?
Support for personal devices is limited and provided on a best-effort basis. Assistance is generally limited to university-supported software, services, and access to campus resources.

What information should I provide when submitting a request?
Include the software name, a description of the issue, any error messages or screenshots, and any troubleshooting already attempted. If the issue is occurring on a university-managed device, include the device asset tag if available.

What if I need access to software instead of troubleshooting assistance?
If the software requires licensing, permissions, or approval, use the Software Access Request service.

What if I need software installed or configured instead?
Use the Install or Configure Software service for software installations, updates, configuration assistance, or software that requires administrative credentials.

Install or Configure Software

Many commonly used applications are available for self-installation through Software Center (Windows) or Self Service (macOS). Need help installing, updating, or configuring software on a university-managed device? IRT can assist with approved software installations, updates, reconfigurations, software that requires administrative credentials, and software needed for instructional or computer lab environments.

How can I find available software and training?
Visit the IRT Software & Training Catalog to browse available software, cloud services, and technology resources. The catalog includes software descriptions, eligibility information, access instructions, training resources, and links to related services.

Can I install software myself?
Yes. Many approved applications can be installed without submitting a request. Windows devices use Software Center and macOS devices use Self Service to browse available software, view installation instructions, and install approved applications that do not require administrative credentials.

What if I need administrative credentials?
Before submitting a request, check whether the software is available through Software Center (Windows) or Self Service (macOS). If the software is not available for self-installation, requires administrative credentials, or you encounter issues during installation, submit an Install or Configure Software Request. This includes situations where software installations, updates, repairs, uninstalls, or work-related accessories require administrative credentials to complete setup or configuration.

What if the software I need is not currently available the IRT Software & Training Catalog?
Software, cloud services, mobile apps, and freeware must complete the ICT Review Process before they can be purchased, implemented, or supported by the university. The review evaluates compliance, compatibility with campus systems, and information security requirements. Learn more about the ICT Review Process and how to submit a request.

What if I need access to licensed software?
Some software requires separate access or licensing requests. Examples include Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft applications, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Tableau. Review the available software request options to determine the appropriate request process.
