Hornet WOW is a jam packed six weeks of events and activities at the start of the semester to help all students make connections, build community, and focus on their overall wellbeing.

Week 1: August 21-27
End of Summer Concert feat. Tribe Divine
THURSDAY, AUGUST 24, 2023, 1 - 2 PM
Enjoy reggae rock and funk fusion, plus free popcorn and frozen treats while supplies last, University Union Serna Plaza, 1 pm, FREE!!!
FRIDAY, AUGUST 25, 2023, 6-8PM
Currently-enrolled students are invited to attend the annual Hornet Nest Fest, August 25, 2023 in the Housing Quad. Tickets are required for food, so be sure to RSVP before August 14 at Noon by clicking the Hornet Nest Fest Tickets link now visible in all current students' Student Centers.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 26, 2023, 10AM – 4PM
Students, staff, and faculty are invited to join us for “Hornet Day at the Lake,” 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center. Bring your Sac State One Card, sunscreen, and a towel and enjoy time on the water or beachfront listening to tunes from KSSU radio. Enjoy free rentals of kayaks, stand up paddle boards, a challenge course, volleyball, food trucks, and more!

For the first two weeks of every semester, SO&L hosts Club Days where many of our over 250 student organizations set up tables or booths across campus to promote their semester activities and membership opportunities. The locations of each club are on our website to view prior or just head around campus and say hi to them all!

Student Organizations & Leadership’s Swarm Day
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2023, 12 – 12:35PM
Swarm Day, the annual campus photo, will take place on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Set-up will begin at 12:00pm with the photo being shot around 12:30pm. This will be Dr. Luke Wood’s first campus photo as President so you will definitely want to be in this historic shot! Grab your friends, wear spirit gear, and bring those lovely smiles.
The University Union's PHLAGLEBLAST Open House Event
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2023, 8AM – 2PM
The Phlagleblast game allows students, staff, and faculty to familiarize them with the Union. As visitors enter the building, they are greeted and welcomed by our friendly staff with a happy smile and a game card. Once their game card is complete, they submit it to the prize table and are automatically entered into a raffle to win grand prizes such as an Xbox, PlayStation, iPads, Apple TV’s, Beats by Dre headphones and a ton of other cool and free stuff including meal vouchers.
Barnflix Outdoor Movie Night: Mean Girls

Indulge in some outdoor entertainment under the starry sky at Drake’s the Barn Outdoor Movie Night. Join your fellow students for a fun-filled screening of "Mean Girls.
More Than Just Scribbles- reception & art exhibit

The University Union Gallery is excited to present a new exhibit: More Than Just Scribbles, featuring artwork of the ASI Children's Center. The Gallery is FREE admission and open to the general public.

The Campus Opioid Safety Act (SB 367) aims to reduce opioid-related overdoses and deaths at public colleges and universities through life-saving education, information, and access to federally approved opioid overdose reversal medication on campus. To comply with these requirements, Sacramento State is providing in-person group Narcan trainings, as well as an asynchronous option. Trainings are open to all students, employees, and campus community members.

This will be a two-day event from Sept 19 – Sept 20 (Mon – Tues), the goal of the event is for students to familiarize themselves with various resources and locations on campus and allow them an opportunity to engage with:

Along with encouraging them to seek out specific program locations to help them explore and engage with cross campus support services.
