Transfer Course Equivalency for Prerequisites

California Community Colleges

Students transferring from a California community college should consult ASSIST.org to determine course equivalencies that satisfy Sacramento State Psychology prerequisite requirements.

Four-Year Institutions and Out-of-State Colleges/Universities

Students transferring coursework from a four-year or out-of-state institution must schedule an appointment with the Department Chair (Dr. Furtak) via psychology@csus.edu. Students are required to provide the course syllabus and/or the following details at the time of the meeting:

  1. Course Code
  2. Course Title
  3. Semester/term Completed
  4. Grade Earned
  5. Indication of whether the course is designated as upper-division or lower-division.

PSYC 9 Course Substitution

Review the PSYC 9: Approved Course List to determine if the course you have taken has already been reviewed.

If you have not taken a course on the approved list, you must take PSYC 9 at Sac State or ensure you are taking an approved course at another college. Contact psychology@csus.edu if you are unsure about a course.

*Courses that are listed as approved for articulation may be taken at any time and submitted by transcript to the university to meet the PSYC 9 requirement.

Student Organizations

Our student organizations are a great way to meet new friends, dive deeper into psychology, and give/receive mentorship.
