RMS Highlights
Preparing for El Niño
A forecasted Super El Niño means weather patterns in our region may become more extreme and less predictable. For event planners, this means a higher chance of heavy rain, flooding, high winds, transportation disruptions, power outages, and impacts on vendors and venues. Even if severe weather does not occur on the event date, organizers should start preparing early because supply chains, staffing, and attendee travel can be affected. Our objective is not to predict whether every event will be impacted.
Our objective is to ensure that event organizers have scalable plans for severe weather and public safety challenges that could become more likely during a strong El Niño season. Please see the attached Emergency Management flyer for El Niño preparation tips.
