If you sensed an increase in Hornet pride over the past few days, well, you weren’t wrong.

Sac State Weekend took place April 25-28, and included multiple events designed to build Hornet pride, celebrate Sacramento State’s role within the community, and support students and key initiatives.

Central to Sac State Weekend was Give Sac State Day, the university’s first-ever online fundraiser. Taking place between 5 a.m. April 26 and 5 p.m. April 27, the push resulted in more than 400 donors contributing more than $196,000, much of it destined for programs that support student success.

The weekend began with a celebration of community and wellness – and a bit of nostalgia. To the sounds of the Spice Girls and the “Macarena,” hundreds of runners and walkers participated in the annual Sac State 5K Fun Run, which this year was themed “Saved by the ‘90s.”

On Friday and Saturday, past and present converged as the University celebrated its most tenured alumni while welcoming the newest members of the Hornet Family. The 50 Year Club Reunion Luncheon, held that morning, brought together alumni who graduated between 1947 – the year of Sacramento State’s founding – and 1969. That same morning, hundreds of students admitted to Sacramento State for fall 2019 were on campus for Admitted Student Day, where they had an opportunity to learn more about academic programs, student services and more.

To close out Sac State Weekend, the campus welcomed the entire community onto the football practice field for the first Hornet Fest, a festival and concert featuring music from Pablo Cruise, Love and Theft, Fox Wilde and Kimberly Dahme.
