Class Syllabus (updated 8/30 - changed grades from just D to D+/D/D-)

Nomenclature Requirements: A summary of nomenclature review is given in the Lab Manual (p. 1413 to 1716). I expect you to be able to give element names from symbols for all elements in the 1st 3 rows of the periodic table, all Group 1A, 2A metals to the 6th row, transition metals in the 4th row except for Sc, and Ag, Au, Cd, Hg, Pb, Br, and I. You need to know the charges of transition metals that only have one oxidation state and what mercury (I) looks like. Know the names of the anions and acids given in p. 16 15 of the lab manual, their related hydrogen anions (see B5 on p. 17 16) and cyanide.
